PEC's Laurel Highlands Projects
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council has been working in the Laurel Highlands for several years in support of various sustainable-community projects. These efforts began with a series of Community Visioning Workshops and have evolved into the Laurel Highlands Conservation Landscape Initiative (CLI). This web page has been set up to make available summaries of each project along with detailed reports. These documents are provided for the convenience of key partners and stakeholders. Some are in draft form or may be dated, so please check with the appropriate PEC staff before distributing them to others. Available for download here are:

Connellsville Charrette Report (25MB): The final report from PEC's community-design workshop held Dec. 12-14, 2008.
Connellsville Design Guidelines-Draft - Part 1 and Part 2: PEC's on-going planning support in the City of Connellsville includes development of guidelines for future development and redevelopment.
Donegal Charrette Report-Working Draft: The final report from PEC's Community Design Workshop held Dec. 15-17, 2008.
Laurel Ridge Trails Assessment: The final report from PEC's Assessment of existing and potential trails on and linking to Laurel Ridge, including the proposed Ridgeback Trail.
Ohiopyle Charrette Report: The final report from PEC's Community Design Workshop held Nov. 15-17, 2007.
Ohiopyle Joint Master Plan & Implementation Strategy RFP-RFQ: The Request for Proposals that defined the work now being undertaken in Ohiopyle Borough and Ohiopyle State Park.
Ohiopyle Master Plan and Implementation Strategy: This plan aims to take information developed through previous planning efforts and use it to prepare a plan for implementation that can be utilized by Ohiopyle Borough and Ohiopyle State Park leaders to guide growth in the area.
Youghiogheny Water Trail: The Map & Guide for the new water trail highlights the river's recreational opportunities, history and hazards.
Path of the Flood Trail Brochure: This map and guide, developed in part as a Laurel Highlands project, interprets the trail from the Johnstown Flood National Memorial to the Johnstown Flood Museum.
As noted, much of PEC's early work in the Laurel Highlands involved community visioning or community-design workshops in key corridors and communities that today are known as Trail Towns. These charrette reports are also provided here:
