Davitt Woodwell

Davitt Woodwell is Vice President of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, a leading force in land and water conservation across the Commonwealth. In this position, he is responsible for the Council's operations in Western Pennsylvania, which include the Allegheny Watershed Network, French Creek Project, and Northern Allegheny Project. Working with the Council since 1991, Mr. Woodwell took a leave of absence during 2000 and 2001 to serve as Executive Director of the Riverlife Task Force which developed a master plan for Pittsburgh's waterfronts and proposed the creation of the new "Three Rivers Park."

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Mr. Woodwell is currently a member of the board of the Steel Industry Heritage Corporation. He participated in the Department of Environmental Protection's regulatory negotiation on the special protection waters program and served on the Pittsburgh Ozone Stakeholder Working Group and subsequent negotiations on regulating air pollution. He also served on the Allegheny County Air Pollution Control Advisory Committee. Mr. Woodwell was appointed by Governor Ridge to serve on the Governor's Commission on Greenways. Prior to assuming his position as Vice President of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, Mr. Woodwell served as Executive Director of the Riverlife Task Force and as Director of the Western Pennsylvania office and Staff Attorney for the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.
