PEC is proud to serve as a member of the Pittsburgh Climate Initiative Organizational Partners who are overseeing the implementation of the Pittsburgh Climate Initiative.
As part of this effort the Pittsburgh Climate Initiative and PennFuture launched a Community Campaign in March 2009 called The Black and Gold City Goes Green which is an effort to educate individuals, organizations and businesses about common sense actions to reduce our respective carbon footprints. The Campaign will issue monthly recommended actions for individuals and organizations that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce energy costs.
This is not a project that belongs to any one group or individual. It is designed to empower all community and public interest organizations; civic groups; churches, synagogues and mosques; sports fans and players; the news media, and any other group to help their members and supporters to make Pittsburgh even cooler by going green. Every month, each group will receive camera-ready materials ready for distribution to their constituencies, along with background information, stickers, a list of available speakers, and contact forms that will make communicating with members and supporters a breeze.
