Lardner's Point Park Project

Parent Project:

Ecological restoration is already underway along the riverfront. Lardner’s Point Park was identified as an early action opportunity for ecological restoration through PEC’s North Delaware Riverfront Greenway Master Plan (2005).  The project encompasses a 4.5 acre waterfront parcel just downriver of the Tacony Palmyra Bridge. The Delaware River City Corporation (DRCC) is now making this project happen. All design work is completed, and DRCC is resolving final permitting issues and looking for a 2011 construction date. The ecological restoration design includes the creation of tidal wetlands along the shoreline, and meadow and woodland habitats in upland areas. Lardner’s Point Park is slated to become the 64th unit of the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation system, and will include opportunities for passive recreational activities such as fishing, walking, and relaxation.
