Rices Landing to Fredericktown
Join the River Town Program, a project of Pennsylvania Environmental Council, for a one-day paddle along the scenic Monongahela River from Rices Landing to Fredericktown. Beginners and experienced paddlers are welcome! The trip, approximately 8.5 miles, will include educational presentations, as well as an optional side trip up Ten Mile Creek, a tributary to the Mon at Fredericktown-Millsboro. Registration is required.

12:15 p.m. Lunch (provided) at Greene Cove Marina, Millsboro, PA

1:30 p.m. Paddle up Ten Mile Creek and back to Monongahela River
4:00 p.m. Take out at Historic Fredericktown Ferry
4:15 p.m.-5:15 p.m. Shuttles back to vehicles in Rice's Landing
Participants are encouraged to stay and enjoy the festivities of Rices Landing’s River Fest, including live music, food and drink, and tours of the historic W. A. Young and Sons Machine Shop and Foundry. Fredericktown will also host its annual Ribfest at the Riviera Restaurant along the water. Rices Landing and Fredericktown are approximately 7 miles apart by vehicle.
Children under 16- $15
Cost includes lunch; water, Gatorade, and snacks; shuttle service; educational presentations; a commemorative t-shirt; and ACA one-day insurance.
Participants can bring their own canoe or kayak, but must have a Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) launch permit, or rent a canoe from our partner, Wilderness Voyageurs (details below). If you bring your own equipment please be sure to bring a personal floatation device for everyone in your canoe/kayak. All participants must wear an approved PFD on the water.
Don’t have a boat? No problem! Please contact our partner, Wilderness Voyageurs, to reserve a canoe, paddle, and approved personal flotation device (PFD). Cost: $15/person. Call Wilderness Voyageurs at 1-800-272-4141 or 724-329-1000. You must reserve a boat in advance; no rentals will be available on the day of the event.
