PHESANTS FOREVER
Our trip begins in Schuylkill County where the PA Game Commission, Pheasants Forever, and local landowners are committing efforts to provide beneficial habitat for the reintroduction of pheasants. Wild birds are then transplanted from Montana and South Dakota to repopulate our outdoors. Monitoring of hens in other parts of our viewing area lead experts to believe that the new project in Schuylkill County will be another success. Visit these websites for more information and look for updates on this project on WNEP's Pennsylvania Outdoor Life, Sundays at 6:30pm.

JAPANESE KNOT WEED
How do you attack an attacking plant? Call in the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, local colleges and high schools, and Pennsylvania American Water Company. These groups are taking aim at an invasive weed that strangles out native vegetation and cover along stream banks. The shallower root system doesn't support the banks in heavy rains, discharging larger than normal amounts of minerals into the watershed. Working toward more stable environments and cleaner water tables, this team wants to make a difference in Luzerne County.

DIESEL FUEL SAVINGS
Many trucking companies are looking to reduce their fuel consumption. One way you may have seen on the highways is the addition of a under-trailer draft kit. Prime Incorporated showed Newswatch 16's Kurt Aaron the addition that is saving the company 4 - 6 percent in fuel useage - that's a wopping 400,000 gallons per month, and up to 4.8-million gallons in a year. Not only does that save them money, but, at the same time, it reduces the amount of pollutants each truck generates.
