Trash to Treasure: Recovering value from the waste stream

Each year, Philadelphians generate around 700,000 tons of trash. But we are virtually throwing money in the garbage as much of that waste has real financial value. In fact, an audit of the city's recycling program suggested that the City could save as much as $17 million a year through recycling.

Come learn about how the City's efforts to increase recycling and reduce waste save precious tax dollars. Also hear from a local company about the value found in discarded construction and demolition waste. And lastly, RecycleBank, the company behind Philadelphia's Recycling Rewards program, will talk about how they have built a successful company model on rewarding people for recycling.

Speakers:
- David Biddle, Recycling Coordinator, City of Philadelphia
- Avi Golen, Revolution Recovery
- Carla Castillo and David Kinsey, RecycleBank
