Calling Last Train Home "one of the country's most formidable roots-rock bands" is quite a tribute from the Nashville Tennessean, but it doesn't quite seem to do justice to the breadth of a group whose influences include country, swing, bluegrass, blues, folk and even a little Tin Pan Alley.

Listen to the range offered in two songs from their latest domestic CD: "Flood" is powerful both musically and in what it says about nature, while the acoustic "I'm Coming Home" is a touching reflective song.

Since their formation in 1997, Last Train Home has logged more than 1,000 live performances and recorded eight CDs, as well as a recent DVD on their Indie label, Red Beet Records.

Led by Eric Brace, the band features as many as 12 members at different times in its records and live performances.
