Rick Bruening
PEC continues its periodic musical feature as we approach the opening day of trout season with a song reflecting on a wonderful day along the banks of a beautiful stream.
Rich Bruening's song, "Whole Day Fishin'," was written about growing up on the Raystown branch of the Juniata River in Bedford County.
Those values from rural Pennsylvania run deep with Rick, who talks about his "propensity to gather aluminum cans from the roadways."
Rick now lives in New Wilmington, a small college town about 60 miles north of Pittsburgh, near Volant, where the turn out of families and fishermen for the Annual Trout Stocking is a huge event.
"It's a tradition for my sons and I to be there to witness the festivities and enjoy the pancake breakfast that is held across the street at the Volunteer Firehall," he says.
Speaking of PEC, he adds, "It is a compliment to be connected to an organization whose efforts are striving to keep Pennsylvania such a beautiful state."
His song is part of a compilation of songs put out by the "Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle".
