Kayak and Clean at Schuylkill Banks

Join PEC, Schuylkill River Development Corp., and Hidden River Outfitters for an evening paddle along the Schuylkill River to celebrate Philadelphia's riverfronts. In exchange for helping clean up debris in the river, paddlers will receive a special discount!
Event Date:
10/06/2009

Join us October 6 at 5:00 p.m. next to the Philadelphia Museum of Art on the Schuylkill River for the launch of the Coalition for Philadelphia's Riverfronts campaign. We’ll talk about how the new greenway will help the city’s economy, the ways it will support Greenworks’ goal to make Philadelphia the greenest city in America and how a continuous, connected trail along our rivers will benefit everyone who lives in or visits Philadelphia.

Then, at 5:30, head on down to Locust St. to join us for kayaking! As a member of the Coalition for Philadelphia's Riverfronts, the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, Hidden River Outfitters and Schuylkill River Development Corporation will host an evening paddle and clean up on the Schuylkill.

Paddlers will also be given bags and gloves (if they wish) to help remove some of the debris from the river as they paddle. Kayakers will be offered a discounted tour price of $25.

RSVP by contacting the Schuylkill River Development Corporation (SRDC). You can send a check for $25 or use a credit card by calling Erin at 215-222-6030x100. WALK UPS will be accommodated if there's space available.  Meeting location for kayaking is on the Schuylkill Banks Trail near Locust St.

This paddle/clean up portion of this event is supported by funds from the DuPont Clear Into the Future program.

Call 215-592-7020 x101 if you have questions about kayaking.
