Guided Kayak and canoe trip on the “Wild and Scenic” designated sections of Menantico Creek and the Maurice River

We put in at Menantico Ponds Wildlife Management Area in Millville. This beautiful natural area is known for its excellent fishing and frequent osprey sightings and is co-owned by the State of New Jersey and The Nature Conservancy. Our trip takes us down Menantico Creek to the Maurice River and then upstream past the last diked farm on the river.  We paddle through extensive wild rice wetlands and past two bald eagle nests on the way to Natural Lands Trust’s 250-acre Harold Peek Preserve for the take-out. The trip will be scheduled for September, when the wetlands are at their most colorful with tickseed sunflowers and ripening wild rice, but flexibility has been allowed to fit trip participants schedules (although tide schedules will also affect the timing). Trip duration is 4 hours, for up to 6 people.

Phil’s interest and expertise in wine has lead him to a diploma from the Wines and Spirits Education Trust based in London.  He is also an Associate in the London Based Institute of Wines and Spirits, and is a Certified Specialist for Wines by the Society of Wine Educators.  In addition to regularly conducting wine tastings for public and private events, including PEC’s annual wine tasting, Phil teaches Wines and Spirits Education Trust courses in Philadelphia.

Phil, a truly gifted wine educator and prodigious wine drinker, will conduct a tasting for up to 8 people in your home while sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of wine with you and your guests.  You will work with Phil to select exclusive wines based on your favorite region, grape or other comparison such as ‘old world vs new world’.  Phil will take you on an oenophilic odyssey exploring the complexities and variations of the wines you select and help you to better understand the characteristics of each one.  The tasting will include 6-8 different wines depending on your selection.
